Gold award at prestigious WhatHouse? awards for the RO's housebuilder Metis Homes

The RO is proud to announce that its housebuilding subsidiary Metis Homes has won the Gold Award in the Best Small Housebuilder category at the WhatHouse? Awards 2017.

The awards event is widely recognised as the biggest and most prestigious event for the nation’s new homes builders.

Metis was founded in 2008 by Adam O’Brien, alongside respected industry professional Tony Burton with strategic investment and support from the RO, an entrepreneurial family company which has been in business for 85 years. Metis has capitalised on the experience and knowledge of its founders to go from strength to strength over a ten year period. Last year it entered the WhatHouse? Awards for the first time winning the Silver Award.

This year Metis went one better and last week the Company was awarded the title at a prize-giving ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The judges praised the quality, design and range of homes built, as well as market performance. Other judging criteria included: the influence of senior management, staff values, recruitment and training, sustainability initiatives, marketing, home buying assistance schemes, after sales service and customer care.

Adam O’Brien, Managing Director at Metis Homes, said:

2Winning the Silver Award for Best Small Housebuilder last year was a great honour for all of us at Metis; a recognition of the team’s hard work and of the values that underpin our business. It was also an incentive for us to continue to improve. I am therefore absolutely delighted with this year’s result and have to extend a huge thank you to my team for working hard to make it happen and to the RO for their support and guidance.

As a small housebuilder an award such as this is a huge accolade and endorsement for our business. Our objective is always to go the extra mile and we pride ourselves on building a diverse portfolio of bespoke, high quality homes in prime locations – from traditional properties in rural settings to contemporary town centre schemes.

Likewise, we are committed to building relationships with our staff and partners with whom we collaborate. We firmly believe that a focus on people rather than just bricks and mortar is core to the success of our business."

Edward Rowlandson, Group Managing Director, the RO added:

"The Metis team should be immensely proud of their achievements. These awards are described as the Oscars of the housebuilding industry and in a room of over 1,600 people from across the sector it is an extremely noteworthy achievement to see the business recognised amongst its peers in this way.

The RO is extremely proud to support Adam and his team. We are hugely impressed by their achievements to date; the professionalism and dedication of all the employees; the quality of the homes they produce and the business philosophy they follow, which mirrors our own approach perfectly."
