We have a great opportunity for a Senior Technical Coordinator to join Metis Homes at our office in Fair Oak, Hampshire. We are an award winning SME housebuilder, with feasible growth plans to complete around 100 homes per annum. The Senior Technical Coordinator will assist the Technical Director to co-ordinate all technical information including Building Design, Highways, Drainage, Utilities and Sustainability on projects from inception to completion whilst working to the Management team’s technical brief.

They will ensure that information is produced, checked and distributed on programme to the correct quality and within budget to enable effective sub-contract procurement and build programme to be met.

The role will include:

  • Coordinating the technical and design processes, design teams and subcontractors throughout detail design, procurement and construction stages. to ensure delivery on time and that the maximum revenue is generated by the quality, cost effectiveness and buildability of the design.

  • Review and scrutinise design drawings, specifications and details for compliance, buildability, VE options throughout all stages of the design process. Distribute project specifications.

  • Review and coordinate design and technical related issues with the Construction Team, Development and Sales & Marketing teams.

  • Receive, co-ordinate and check specialist subcontractor and supplier information.

  • Ensuring fully complete, correct and coordinated packages issued to Commercial and Construction teams.

  • Assist the Technical  and Operations Directors  in compiling pre-construction phase plan.

  • Ensure Building Regulations and Warranty conditions are cleared without delay to the project and without risk to the business.

  • Ensure statutory approvals (for example, S278, S104 and S38 agreements) are obtained in a timely manner.

  • Manage enquiries and applications to statutory service companies and local authorities.

  • Resolve design and building problems, contacting relevant personnel and consultants, as appropriate.

About you:

  • Proven experience in a Technical or Senior Technical Coordinator role  in a development company / housebuilder.

  • Up to date knowledge of best practice and the latest products and specification items available in the marketplace particularly in the field of sustainable construction.

  • Evidence of an understanding of financial, legal, and planning processes would stand you in good stead.  As would having an architectural or engineering background with the ability to use AutoCAD or similar. CDM for Principal Designers experience would be desirable.

  • Assertive, decisive, flexible, good time management, organised, effective at chairing / participating in meetings, works well under pressure and to strict deadlines.

  • Passionate about customer satisfaction, house building and construction, with a focus on high standards and excellence.

  • Good operating knowledge of the development / technical design process.

  • Proven knowledge of detailed design for residential schemes utilising different forms of construction – including timber frame.

  • Be able to interrogate design information across all disciplines, project programmes, and in particular identifying Critical Paths.

  • Sound understanding of statutory requirements, including Building Regulations, Warranty Company Standards and Sustainability, with an ability to interpret and negotiate compliance.

  • High level of attention to detail.
